I originally wrote the little script for this and recorded it at the MacDowell Colony, New Hampshire – L.M. Kit Carson (screenplay writer of Paris, Texas) kindly recorded it.

The film had been shot some years earlier by Cathy Ward and Eric Wright. I hadn’t quite known what to do with it, but it was interesting for me to respond to these vivid monochrome images….

I had the idea it was narrated by a cab driver at the end of a long night, the driver sounds like he might be wise, he sounds lucent but he could just turn out to be crazy…..

I love Kit’s voice for this (it’s actually slowed down) when we recorded he began by pouring us both a large glass of whisky, It all suddenly seemed a lot easier.
