IF I HAD KNOWN I WAS DREAMING takes the 9th century Japanese poetry of Ono No Komachi as it’s basis for exploring existential questions, as well as the questions of the heart.

It was premiered at the Purcell Room in 2002 with soprano Evelyne Beech and the Tippett string quartet.
